Herd Trophies

The Guernseys at Tiresford are no ordinary herd. They are a familiar sight during the summer months, grazing the fields either side of the A49 Tarporley by-pass. Tiresford cattle are internationally famous, and bulls bred in the herd have been used all over the world for many years.

Apart from producing high quality milk, the cows themselves have excelled in the show ring, winning many major trophies.

Over the last few years cows from Tiresford have won the coverted ‘Supercow’ trophy at the European Dairy Farming Event in 2000 and in 2002 (no competitions in 2001 due to foot and mouth), they were even more successful providing the Supreme Champion at the European Dairy Event, the South-West Dairy Show; Nantwich Show; Poynton Show and the Exhibitor bred Supreme Champion at the South Wales Dairy Show. The Tiresford herd is generally considered to contain some of the best examples of the Guernsey breed in the world.
